What is ‘1917’ Movie All About?

The trailer from the Universal Pictures is suggestive of the mastery of Roger Deakins, the award-winning cinematographer. The trailer depicts British soldiers fighting in ruthless circumstances, where the battalion has nowhere to go but seek refuge in muddy trenches. It is the typical depiction of the history’s most horrific World War I. Crossing the enemy lines would have been no less than stepping into hell especially considering the makeshift resources of those days over 100 years ago. This is what makes the plot interesting because the scenes will surely raise the hair on your arms.

‘1917’ is a Single Continuous Shot

Before releasing the official ‘2017’ movie trailer, Universal Pictures also released a video featuring behind-the-scenes action revealing how Deakins and Mendes made the whole movie as a single continuous shot.

Blade Runner 2049 won the academy award for Roger Deakins after being nominated for our 14 times. In 2018, Deakins won his first Oscar and 2017 may well earn him another Oscar in 2020.

While telling Vanity Fair, Mendes expressed that he wanted to be with the men step by step, breathing along breathes. The task had been extremely difficult. The idea is to make viewers feel the intensity of the unforgiving circumstances in the middle of the battlefield.

Rodger’s objective has been to use his camera as a third-character. The point is to take the viewers along with the soldiers on the epic journey featuring magnanimous dangers.

Wiring and re-writing had been the features of the whole plot. Wilson-Cairns and Mendes spent a lot of time to make sure that everything is perfect. But when the results were achieved, both were more than happy and cheered every bit of their success.

1917 movie trailer

We hope that 1917 brings out the best from the over-century old conflict that shaped the new world only to face yet another havoc in the form of WWII. Mendes himself claims that he had never rehearsed any of his movies as many times as he rehearsed 1917. Mendes claims that he did his best to maintain the utmost precision in terms of time, space, and dialogues.

Fingers Crossed

There has been a huge appreciation for the movies featuring World Wars. Fans love the realistic recreation of the events as precisely as technology allows. Let us hope that 1017 also manages to impress fans waiting for the release on December 25th in the US and January 10th in the UK.

If you love free-gaming then here comes the massive opportunity to enjoy one of the most promising MMOs in 2019. Seize The Crown is the opportunity to relive history to test your strategic skillset.

conqueror's blade seize the crown

Epic sieges and massive armies are the main attraction these days and people love playing these MMOs to experience what our predecessors went through.

What is Seize The Crown Game All About?

Seize The Crown was released in early 2019 and this game, to me, is more of a mean to associate with the war-mongering tendencies in human nature. The game introduces you to ten different weapons and you are allowed to create a warlord specializing in any one of the available weapons including muskets, crossbows, Japanese hatchets, and poleaxes, etc.

Your objective, first of all, is to create a strong army specializing in one of the 10 weapons. You need to work on optimizing the skill levels to bring down the opposing army. It is an MMO so thousands of other warlords are there as potential bloodthirsty threats. This fact brings in strategy as a vital factor. This is where you realize the significance of strategic thinking because after all, there is no way to defeat the enemies scattered around looking to bring you down as soon as your army looks slightly weaker.

The games allow you to engage your army in the siege expedition with 14 other armies. So, for a siege, you need to befriend 14 other players to become a team of 15 armies (maximum number of armies in one team). Similarly, the opposing team is also the congregation of a maximum of 15 armies. This stage involves thinking to come up with a master-plan. You have work on the proper formation to take down the opponents one by one with the help of the siege weapons.

Seize The Crown – The Total War

Around 1500 bloodthirsty warlords are waiting for the right opportunity to chop their enemies. You may call Seize The Crown a large scale presentation of cinematic battles. One of the promising features of the game includes Player Customization. The game lets you custom design an exclusive commander to brush away the weaker warlords around your area.

Weekly Challenges in Seize The Crown

Things get serious when you become strong enough to take on large enemies. This is where the quest for the crown begins. Don’t forget that Seize The Crown is a time-limited MMO. Each new week comes up with a unique challenge. Completing the challenge entitles you to a weekly reward. These rewards contribute to the prestige and riches of your warlord. The reward could be anything from 200 tiers of currency, chests, siege weapons, and cosmetic items.

In order to advance and befriend other warlords to create a team, you need to show them your worth. This is where the rewards and prestige come into play. You only have to complete the challenges to unlock different rewards. In addition, there are free and paid rewards you can unlock. Free rewards, obviously are available to all, don’t help you stand out. The high-tier rewards are there but you have to purchase them from the in-game store.

The game presents you with the maps to help you as a guide to the weekly challenge. The game is different from many other medieval MMOs. Trade, property ownership, and technology are the means to upgrade your kingdom. You could easily get lost in this game because of it a seasonal event and you’d love to achieve more and more in less amount of time.

Verdict – Seize The Crown

Until now, Seize The Crown is doing a nice job and the players are loving the game. The season was released on September 30th and is now into the 4th week. I have noticed that the developers have done a great job to fix the bugs. For instance, the infamous Westwood Map had the respawn point bug which is now fixed. While chasing the rebels, the open-world bug made the level-clearance impossible. Now it has been fixed. The map sometimes hid newly constructed buildings but now there is no such delay. Overall, Seize The Crown is a much-improved update on its predecessors.

I know if you’re on this site you be as shocked as I am that I’ve not watched the original Watchmen movie or even read the original Watchmen comic. Sadly there was too much going on at the time and I just wasn’t able to make it happen. I really don’t have an excuse.

I do know that both (the comic book and movie) were extremely popular and did really well so I am coming to it – coming to the show – with some expectations. Actually talking about expectations as this is the replacement to Game of Thrones and to some extent the interlude between Westworld seasons my expectations are quite high.

So when the show started with black people getting shot and killed I really didn’t know anything about it. I had heard of the Tulsa race riots of course but as a Canadian, I’m not really as familiar as somebody who gets taught that in history class. I’m sure I don’t know if it was sensationalized or if that’s really how it was during the riots, but it was pretty horrible and a really jarring introduction to a new television show for me. Which I guess was the point of it.

In addition, as I was commenting on to someone else it was interesting seeing the show that didn’t seem to steer away from the question of colour or racism unlike some of HBO’s other huge hits which I’ve mentioned earlier. Now, with this show, I hope to watch every episode (unlike my sad failure with GoT) and to give you not so much a recap but more my thoughts and opinions as someone coming to it as a fan of comics and comic ‘dom but not someone that knows this universe inside and out.

There were quite a few interesting things that happened in the first episode that stood out to me. The statement that Vietnam was a new state, for example, was quite cool. The whole smiley face created out of eggs (actually as someone who likes to cook, the way the yolk was extracted was neat too!) And in some ways you could actually see the US or at least parts of it going or becoming a police state as its portrait as it’s portrayed in the show. I didn’t know coming into the show that it would be about race relations and hate crime and stuff like that – I really did think it was more just the comic show maybe something like the Boys on Amazon Prime for example so something more along the lines of anti-heroes versus something as deep as this.

Overall the action is quite good and portrayed really well there are some references to two other well-known characters from the book I think – one of them is on Mars doing something so the question is if he ever comes back? But it seems to be more of a story of regular people trying to find equality. The rationale behind cops wearing masks was quite interesting to me but at the same time extremely frightening. I can only imagine a whole police department that had no fear of their identities being seen and how some of the people in those departments would act.

Episode 1 is done and we’ve already lost someone I hoped would be with us for several episodes. There’s obviously some sort of a mystery there as there is no rationale for him to have left without taking his protection detail. In addition when you see that both of your tires are blown out you don’t have to walk down the road to find out why that’s when you call for help.I’d be very interested to see if powers do get used by anybody or if it’s only about the mask as some of the characters do seem very strange.

Coming into this as a somewhat outsider I feel comfortable giving this a 7 or even an 8 as it did keep me engaged throughout the episode and I do want to come back and see what happens next. I didn’t follow through on GoT and while I’m not one for jumping on the bandwagon that’s the show I wish I had been able to share over the water cooler with everyone else. Here’s hoping HBO has another winner with the Watchmen.

Some questions and things to ponder that I hope will be answered:

  • What’s with the squid’s dropping from the sky? I’m sure there is some relevance but at this point, I don’t know what it’s all about. Hopefully, they will explain it.
  • What happens to the little boy and baby? Do they become someone special or are they just introduced as a way of highlighting the racial tension?
